Discovering The United States of America

While The United States of America has a lot of wonder-filled destinations, the most often overlooked are the amazing waterways within its borders.  River cruising is extremely popular in Europe and growing in popularity here where guests can cruise close to home.

U.S. based river cruising offers options from paddle wheelers to luxury ships with capacities ranging from 109 to 175 passengers per vessel.  Most of the newer ships are “go anywhere ships” with fitness areas, most rooms have balconies, 5 star service,  and the food and beverages are absolutely to die for. River cruise lines offer guests onboard and onshore enrichment programs with excursions to local landmarks and pre and post cruise stays.  Step back in time and enjoy the paddle wheeler as she floats from Memphis to New Orleans visiting America’s Music Country, or one of the luxurious ships that will take you through the Tennessee River Valley with the Appalachian Mountains as a back drop or maybe even get up close and personal with nature in Glacier Bay.

There are a variety of itineraries to discover; the Tennessee River Valley, The Ohio Valley and Mississippi Rivers, The Columbia and Snake Rivers, The Hudson River, The Potomac River, and Glacier Bay in Alaska.  There is definitely an itinerary for everyone.  While I don’t recommend this type of cruise for children, as there are not childrens activities like you would find on the larger ships designed for sea cruising. River cruises will help you explore our amazing country from a different perspective as land is never out of sight and the scenery is absolutely gorgeous with excursions that will allow for more time to explore each port.
