Hawaii

Hawaii, the most beautiful islands in the United States of America.  There are five Hawaiian Islands, but in this weeks blog we are only covering four as they are the most popular.  The Big Island of Hawaii, Oahu, Kauai, and Maui.  Each Island can boast that they have the most beautiful beaches and each island is correct in that statement.  Depending on the time of year that you travel, you will be able to see Volcanoes, Sea Turtles, Whales, maybe some Sharks, some of the most beautiful beaches, the most amazing wildlife, and more.

Let’s start with Hawaii, the Big Island.  This island boasts volcanoes at Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, beautiful white sand, black, and green sand beaches.  On Hawaii beaches tend to appear and disappear due to volcanic activity and weather.  People think that this island has fewer beaches than the other Islands, but remember this island is so much larger than the others that getting to the beaches can take longer.  There are amazing waterfalls and rainforests to explore in the middle of the island and on the East side of the island are rocky beaches that are amazingly picturesque.   To the South, you will find your black, green, and mixed sand beaches.  On the Northwest side of the island you will find your beautiful white sand beaches and the Kohala Coast which features Hawaii’s largest coral reef.  A visit would not be complete without driving to Steaming Bluffs, and then walking to the overlook to see the Halemaumau Crater and the Kilauea Caldera.    However, if you are looking for nightlife, many resorts and properties have entertainment, but it is relatively quiet on the Big Island of Hawaii so our next island may be more your style.

We are on to Oahu, not only does this island have the beautiful North Shore, think surfing and sea turtles, gorgeous white sand beaches, arts, culture, nightlife, restaurants, history, and there is so much to see and do here that one week or a few days can fly by.  Our favorites are the Pearl Harbor Memorial, North Shore, the many beaches, hiking on Diamond Head, Punch Bowl Crater, and definitely downtown Honolulu and Waikiki.  The restaurants and food is absolutely wonderful, from the roadside restaurants to the Luaus at the many resorts and the Cultural Arts Center you will be satisfied no matter your choice. The shopping is amazing from souveniers to custom brands you can find it all on Oahu.

Maui, this island is the most romantic of the Hawaiian Islands.  Here you will find luxurious resorts, golf, gorgeous foliage and historic villages within its hills and valleys, restaurants, top notch water sports and outdoor activities in addition to the many cultural activities.  No visit is complete without taking a trip on the Road to Hana, the visit to the Ocean Center, and some time on the South Shore.

Kauai, is absolutely beautiful and a dream for those who like to spend time in the outdoors.  From the steep cliffs to miles of sandy beaches there is definitely a lot of fun to be had.  Visit the Keahua Arboretum to see the gorgeous rainbow trees, Kilauea Point National Wildlife Refuge, and the Kilauea Lighthouse (built in 1913).  The food and serenity on this island will take you away. However, this island also has limited nightlife.  But the shopping…there is a bit of everything here.
